I love bringing the kids to the "free zoo" at Feeders Supply! Our inn is always full, but it's still great to go give the dogs and cats a little attention and tell them how adorable they are.

My most memorable Feeders' Supply moment was the training classes that were offered through Feeders' Supply. McGhee was a very abused dog before I adopted him and the folks at the shelter warned me that he may be hard to manage. The ladies giving the training classes were not only understading of his anxienty, they completely catered to his needs so he could still be a part of the class and learn to inteact. McGhee has been more open to new people and places ever since and contnues to improve every day. As you can see in the photo, not only did he learn a thing or two from the classes, he has also learned to ham it up for the camera! ;o)
I am a HUGE animal lover and I enjoy going to Feeders Supply just to look at all the animals and all of the neat stuff that you can purchase to go with them. I am a proud mom of 2 German Shepherds and 3 Rats and I always find something that they would like every time I am in. If the dogs don't get to tag along when I go, they always have their heads in the bags when I get home! Thanks Feeders Supply!

Oh, I LOVE rats...my daughter, when she was small, wanted to be a vet...so I started getting her different types of pets so she would be familiar with them...the pet rats were great...they are so smart.
Rats are really smart and can be trained to do things...one of ours was an escape artist who liked to sleep with us. (I do recommend people buy female rats.)

Here is a good link about rats.

They are pretty cool, I have males, so they are pretty stinky and require a lot of cleaning, but they are pretty smart!
Beautiful GSD's!
Thank you! I love them dearly!
My favorite Feeder's Supply memory is 2008's Halloween costume contest. You don't have to participate to enjoy the variety of animals and costumes. The contest is judged on different factors such as originality of costume and the pet's attitude wearing it. With Halloween just around the corner visit your local Feeder's Supply store for more details on this year's events.
I coordinate Picture Your Pets w/ Santa in New Albany each year. The volunteers and I have such a great time meeting the pets and their owners each year. Imagine our surprise, and Santa's, when this pet come through the door! A great experience and a great picture! Looking forward to what will come in this year!

My favorite story from Feeders is the day we adopted Val (short for Valentine) our Great Dane German Shepherd mix. We went to the Hikes Point store to buy dog food and 2 hours later we left with Val. That was the week of Valentine's Day 2002, hence the name Val. She was the largest in the puppy pen and was being harassed by three other Australian Shepherd puppies and managing to hold her own. She visits the store regularly and faithfully enters the Halloween costume contest and occasionally the Derby Hat contests.

Val now lives with Wilson the Mantle Great Dane, RD the Harlequin Great Dane, and Howie aka Lil Dude who is a terrier mix. Everyone at the Hikes Point Feeders knows our gang and are always glad to see them.

I spent the greater half of a year waiting for the right time to adopt a puppy. Since I am a teacher spent countless hours on Petfinder.com looking at dogs and wishing the school year would end so I could be home with my new best friend. As I neared the final week, I found three adorable beagle puppies online and fell in love. I went the very next day to the Bardstown Rd. Feeders Supply to see them in person. There was only one little female left of the three and as soon as I saw her and held her, I had to have her. Luckily everything worked out and I got to bring little Miss Ella May Beaglesly home with me the next day.

As a petsitter, I don't petsit in my home. I go to their's for scheduled visits. So Lucy, if you are taking pets into your home, then yes, you would need some type of license or permit. You may even need to look into zoning issues with your home. Al…

They are probably referring to the licence you need from Louisville Metro Animal Control. You need a license for boarding (babysitting is considered the same thing as they are in your care during that time) You do need this as the fines are steep fo…

They might be referring to a business license, which you don't need for a pet sitting business. You might want to join a petsitters group like Petsitters International (www.petsit.com). They usually have a lot of good info for getting your business…
