I feel so horrible. I was cleaning my beloved 4 year old peach faced love bird's cage. She was fine. I left the room to go soak some of her perches and I came back and she was laying on the floor of her cage. I have no clue what could have happene…

Is There a Bird Rescue in Kentuckiana?

I took in an injured young female pied cockatiel yesterday because I already had some cages and food.

But, I think this bird needs more care than I can give her. She may have a broken wing and since I am a starving artist/writer, I don't have the necessary funds to take her to a vet. I know how much avian vet bills can be...and I just don't have the resources at this time. It's sort of humiliating to publicly admit I don't have the resources to take a bird to the vet, but the bird needs care I… Continue

Have you lost a dog in Hanover or Madison, Indiana?

This dog has been hanging around the McDonalds in Hanover, Indiana. The dog warden has tried to catch it, but with no luck. The McDonalds is on 56/62 and Thompson Road.
If you know this dog, please call me at 260-220-2900 or call the Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Perhaps they have succeeded in catching it.

I couldn't get near the dog, or I would have taken it home and tried to find it's family.

Treating Hot Spots and Skin Conditions Organically

Some breeds of dogs get hot spots. There are just some dogs which are more genetically prone to skin conditions.

Most often a hotspot appears when the dog starts biting and scratching a particular place and it becomes red and the come off in the affected area. come The dog is plainly miserable because of it. They will continually lick it and white dogs, in particular, may show a redness wherever the licking occurs. White poodles, and bichon frises and many other breeds seem to get it the most.… Continue

My Pup Just Ate A Poisonous Mushroom!

I was out in the yard playing with my new 3 month old cockapoo and before I could stop her, she ate a huge mushroom.

Immediately, I got on the internet and typed into the search engine, "dogs and mushrooms" and discovered she had just eaten a deadly mushroom. The article said you should induce vomiting immediately. To do this, it said to take a 3% solution of peroxide, 3 ccs per 20 pounds of body weight and use a syringe to administer the peroxide. It also said not to induce vomiting on an empt… Continue
