Nourish Your Pet Seminar
Tuesday, August 17 at 7 pm
Holiday Inn Hurstbourne
Free Seminar presented by Holistic Select Pet Food

Providing superior nutrition is a proactive way to prevent health problems before they start. The questions for many pet lovers are: what nutrients do pets need and what pet food ingredients provide for those requirements? Pet nutrition experts from Holistic Select Pet Foods will shed some light on these issues.

The seminar is free, but seating is limited. To secure your seat, register at your neighborhood Feeders Supply store starting August 1. All participants will also receive a free, small bag of Holistic Select pet food (6.6 lb. dog or 5 lb. cat) as special thanks for attending the seminar.

Concern For Outdoor Pets

We received this information from Metro Animal Services and wanted to share with Kentuckianapets members:
Constant Cold Temperatures Cause Concern for Animals Left Outdoors

“Despite their “fur” coats, domesticated animals like cats and dogs depend on people to protect them from the elements,” said Jackie Gulbe, assistant director for community relations. “Many pet owners will claim that their pets like to be outside, but that doesn’t mean it’s safe for them.”

MAS is offering the following sugg… Continue

Slimming Down

Does your pet need to lose weight? To check your dog, move your hands along his sides. If you can feel his ribs, he's about right. When you look down on him you should be able to see a "waistline". A home test for kitty is to run your hands down her sides when she's standing. If her abdomen protrudes beyond the ribs, she's probably overweight. Next make a visit to your veterinarian. He'll examine your pet to make sure that the extra weight is not being caused by another health condition, such as… Continue

Shedding Season

We love our furry friends, but this time of year the “furry” part can be a problem. Remember that the natural shed cycle is nature’s way to prepare your pet for the hot summer months.

To stay comfortable and a socially acceptable part of the family, your furry pet needs your assistance in getting through this hairy experience. Seasonal shedding is a normal process and routine brushing is important to making shedding bearable for both your pet and you.

In addition to removing fur, there are oth… Continue

Hip and Joint Pain In Pets

As our pets age, they can develop joint problems, just as people do. If you notice your senior dog takes his time to get up, is slower climbing up and down stairs or has difficulty jumping into the car or onto a chair, it could be joint pain. Cats exhibit joint pain in similar ways or they may simply chew or lick their joints in an attempt to make the pain go away. If your pet is in pain, you should always take your animal to the veterinarian.

If your dog or cat has osteoarthritis, your vet may… Continue

As a petsitter, I don't petsit in my home. I go to their's for scheduled visits. So Lucy, if you are taking pets into your home, then yes, you would need some type of license or permit. You may even need to look into zoning issues with your home. Al…

They might be referring to a business license, which you don't need for a pet sitting business. You might want to join a petsitters group like Petsitters International (www.petsit.com). They usually have a lot of good info for getting your business…
