I was out in the yard playing with my new 3 month old cockapoo and before I could stop her, she ate a huge mushroom.
Immediately, I got on the internet and typed into the search engine, "dogs and mushrooms" and discovered she had just eaten a deadly mushroom. The article said you should induce vomiting immediately. To do this, it said to take a 3% solution of peroxide, 3 ccs per 20 pounds of body weight and use a syringe to administer the peroxide. It also said not to induce vomiting on an empty stomach to make it easier on the dog.
Well, I had the peroxide, but didn't have a syringe.
But, had a shot glass. So, I put her on my lap on her back and poured the peroxide down her throat. I had to guess the amount. It was very easy as she only weighs 10 pounds. I gave her a piece of chicken first.
About 10 minutes or less, she vomited everything up.
She's going to be okay.
This remedy was good for mushrooms. Don't follow my lead if your dog has eaten or drank something else. Always research your specific needs.
I was lucky I saw her eat the mushroom.
And I am lucky we have the internet today.
That was a close call.
